Nhep Paul, affectionately known as the “Noodle Lady” in Oom Chong in Cambodia, started life experiencing poverty - just like previous generations of her family. When widowed, life became even more challenging for Nhep and her five daughters. Today, because of the support she received from a woman’s Self-help Group, Nhep lives a life of opportunity that she built through hard work and the help of a donors like you.

Who We Are

Poverty is much more than people trying to live on a little more than $2 a day. The root causes of poverty extend beyond a lack of basic necessities like clean water, sanitation, nutritious food, reliable shelter, education, and access to healthcare. Land security, ethnicity and inequity, conflict, climate change and disasters, poor service infrastructure, lack of economic opportunity, and multi-generational poverty that traps families in a permanent cycle of poverty are also contributors.
