Creating a better life

“My life has changed” says Tsehay Moges , a 44-year-old woman and mother of two. Tsehay lives in Saris village in the Akaki Subcity of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital city.

When her husband left ten years ago, Tsehay became the sole breadwinner for her family. Tsehay and her young family were struggling. But amidst the struggle came hope. Tsehay’s daughter, Diana, join Save Lives Ethiopia where she received an education, health and food support. Today, ten years after joining, Diana is in Grade 12 and getting ready to apply to college - a completely different path than poverty had intended for her.

Tsehay’s life has also dramatically improved. The small cafe she runs out of her home, cooking and selling food, continues to thrive and is poised to grow with a new development grant of $115 CAD from Save Lives. Her business is the first of its kind in her neighbourhood. “The support I have received makes me happy and I feel like I can accomplish much!”, says Tsehay.
