From hungry to food secure in just 3 months!

Nanay Josephine Abejon is an Aeta (Indigenous tribe in the Philippines) farmer from Botolan, Zambales. Food insecurity has always been a major challenge for Nanay and her family.

After receiving seeds and tools, Nanay started a small vegetable garden in her backyard. In just three months hunger became a thing of the past as Nanay Josephine grew enough food to more than meet her family’s needs.

Now Nanay is joining other small plot vegetable growers from her community to set up a market stall to sell the extra bounty from their harvests. The income generated from these sales will go a long way toward addressing another concern Nanay and her neighbours have - income security.
